2nd Annual Washington Global Family Fun Night!

On Wednesday, April 12th from 3:00-6:30pm, Washington Global Student Government will be hosting its 2nd Annual Family Fun Night. Last year we had a great deal of success thanks to the generosity of families and staff, and we’re hoping to replicate that success this year. We are asking parents to please donate a dish and/or money to help contribute to the evening, and to end of the year activities. The money raised will go towards the end-of-year trip, a school dance, our service learning project, and more!

A Family Fun Night flyer was sent home last week with an attached donation request slip. For more information or if you didn’t receive the flyer, please reach out to Ms. Jeter at 202-210-7525 or at jjeter@washingtonglobal.org.

Financial Literacy Program

The past two weeks, students in 7th and 8th have had the opportunity to participate in a financial literacy program here at Washington Global. We teamed up with 100 Black Men mentoring organization and Wells Fargo Bank to provide students with an introduction to budgeting, personal finance, and credit management. Students learned about balancing income with expenses, and also how to responsibly pay back credit card expenses. Ask your child what they learned!

Featured Class 7.4 Social Studies:
he Greeks and the Romans

Each week, Washington Global will highlight one class, or cohort. The goal is to give you (families) the opportunity to see a snapshot of what is going on at Washington Global. We encourage you to talk to your child about what they’re learning!

Students in Mr. Thistle’s 7.4 Social Studies class continued their journey across the ancient world. This week marks their transition from the Ancient Chinese Civilization to the Greek and Roman Civilizations. The students traveled westward along the Silk Road, learning about the trading route and some of the important cultural developments that it fostered. The students spent time discussing Alexander the Great; specifically, his impact in creating this trade route and his legacy not only in Greece, but across the rest of the ancient world.
